For over 10 years B&R Pools and Swim Shop has been conducting the NSPF Certified Pool Operator and PA Pesticide Applicator Certification courses to Western PA swimming pool professionals. These classes are required to operate a commercial swimming pool in Pennsylvania, and B&R Pools is proud to have educated more pool operators than anyone else in the State.
Together, Al Rose, E.J. and Mike Bonavita bring over 90 years experience in the commercial pool industry to the classroom. The result is a class made up of real world examples that coincide nicely with the textbook material.
The Allegheny County Bathing Place Manager certificate can be obtained at the same time as the CPO accreditation bringing our one stop shop philosophy to your education needs.
If you have questions regarding your current status or would like more specific information contact Diane Rose at the office 412-661-7665 or email edcenter@bandrpools.com
FAQs
Do I need a pesticide license?
The Pesticide Applicator license is required for any individual charged with adding or handling chemicals in a commercial swimming pool in Pennsylvania.
Does my facility require a Certified Pool Operator?
There must be at least one Certified Pool Operator on staff for every commercial pool in Allegheny County. Outside of Allegheny County your facility is not required to have a CPO on staff (although it is not a bad idea).
What is considered a commercial pool?
A commercial pool is defined as any pool owned and operated by (1) the residents of a condominium or cooperative, (2) any public or private educational institution, (3) any public or private orphanage, (4) any communal group such as YMCA, health club, community center, and (5) any correctional institution.
How long is my CPO and Pesticide license good for?
The CPO is good for a five (5) year period. Retesting is required to re-certify at the end of that period. Pesticide certification is good for a period of three (3) years. During that three year period, six (6) Core and four (4) Category 24 Continueing Education credits must be earned to re-certify for the next three (3) years.
